OpenAV Cloud Appoints Leadership Team, Welcomes New Members, and Expands Open Framework Ahead of Infocomm 2026

Mountain View, California – May 18, 2026OpenAV Cloud today announced continued momentum in advancing an open, interoperable, cloud-connected AV ecosystem. Updates include the expansion of its global membership across manufacturers, system integrators, and end users, the formal appointment of industry leaders to key roles within the initiative, and continued progress on its technical framework.

OpenAV Cloud was created to address long-standing challenges in the AV industry caused by proprietary systems that limit integration, scalability, and innovation. By developing open, cloud-based frameworks and promoting secure, interoperable data access across brands, the initiative enables manufacturers, integrators, and end users to collaborate more effectively while preserving flexibility and differentiation.

OpenAV Cloud welcomes its newest Contributing Members: L-Acoustics, Huddly, Navori, Ecler, Korbyt, Granteq, Infobit, ProAV IT, and Providius. These companies join a growing coalition of AV manufacturers, SIs and end users committed to open APIs, shared frameworks, and cross-platform collaboration.

Recognizing the vital role of integrators and end users, OpenAV Cloud introduced a dedicated membership tier for system integrators and managed service providers, named Industry Supporters. This free tier is designed to formally include integrators, and has recently opened for end users, acknowledging their essential role in advancing open APIs and connected AV environments.

“The addition of an Industry Supporter tier acknowledges the critical role integrators play in shaping how AV solutions are delivered in the real world,” said Petro Shimonishi, Community Outreach Committee Chair and Director of New Business Development at Panasonic Projector & Display Americas. “OpenAV Cloud is creating a space where those perspectives directly influence the industry’s direction.”

As the initiative continues to grow, OpenAV Cloud has also formalized its leadership structure with the appointment of key roles to guide its strategic and technical direction:

  • Adam Sowers (Sony Electronics) – Chair
  • Randy Klein – Co-Chair
  • Sam Sabet (Shure) – Technical Committee Chair
  • Petro Shimonishi (Panasonic Projector & Display Americas) – Community Outreach Committee Chair
  • Lital Grossman (Xyte) – Executive Director & Marketing Committee Chair

“These appointments reflect the collaborative nature of OpenAV Cloud and the strong industry commitment behind it,” said Adam Sowers, Chair of OpenAV Cloud and Senior Manager & Intrapreneur at Sony Electronics. “As the initiative grows, establishing clear leadership helps us accelerate progress while ensuring we represent the diverse perspectives across the AV ecosystem.”

OpenAV Cloud has also released the first three chapters of its technical framework, available for download on the OpenAV website. These chapters provide guidelines for AV device security, baseline functionality and device taxonomy - forming the foundation for open, cloud-based API development and adoption across the industry. Additional chapters will be released over time as the framework evolves with continued community input.

“This is about giving the industry a common starting point,” said Sam Sabet, Technical Committee Chair and CTO at Shure. “These first framework chapters focus on turning collaboration into something practical that manufacturers and integrators can actually build on and implement today, laying the foundation for easier, scalable interoperability.”

The initiative continues to build an active industry community and invites AV manufacturers, system integrators, managed service providers, consultants, and end users to participate. Updates, resources, and ongoing progress are shared through OpenAV Cloud’s website and social channels (LinkedIn, Discord).
